On the hilly Pelje\u0161ac peninsula, in the village of Ponikve, the Milo\u0161 winery cultivates 15 hectares of organic vineyards located in a unique micro-location. The hilly terrain, open to both the south and the north, provides an ideal balance of sun and wind, and this very site was recently officially recognized with the awarding of a protected designation of origin (PDO Ponikve). <\/span>Soil is the second key component in shaping the character of their wines \u2013 dolomitic limestone with an exceptional ability to retain moisture from winter rains, allowing the vines to survive and remain balanced during the hot summer months when drought is a constant threat. <\/span>Frane Milo\u0161 began his journey into organic winemaking back in the early 1990s (!) \u2014 with minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, no fining or filtration, and very low sulfur use. More than 30 years later, the same approach continues through his work and the work of his sons, Ivan and Josip. <\/span>In the glass, you\u2019ll recognize a true southern character.
