ABOUT NESPUTANA VINA
Our story is a journey from pure love and enthusiasm to the leading distributor and promoter of natural wines in Croatia.
It’s the story of a passion that has evolved into the best job in the world. We are importers of natural wines, and our focus is on the vibrant wine regions of Central Europe. We have thoroughly explored everything that you can stumble upon in the bottles we offer. We have talked to winemakers, researched, travelled, studied, and, of course, drank. That is why we know the ins and outs of the wines from our offer — we know their vineyard, father, mother, cellar, fungi, and yeasts. But, above all, we know that these are healthy wines, bursting with life.
Our wine shop is the first natural wine shop in Croatia, but its mission is not only to sell wine. We want to invite people into the world of natural wines through wine workshops and events with the winemakers we represent, as well as eminent Croatian chefs who love our wines.
In addition, we supply numerous restaurants and bars throughout Croatia.
What do we talk about when we talk about NATURAL WINES?
Enjoying a good wine is not complete without a good conversation about wine, and when it comes to natural wines, there is a lot to talk about. That is why we want to be abundantly clear about what we consider to be natural wine.
THE VINEYARD IS THE MOTHER, and natural winemakers treat it that way exclusively, by applying organic or biodynamic principles. Harmful interventions, like herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and all sorts of synthetic “-ides” — which harm the soil’s health and its biodiversity — are out of the question in the natural vineyard.
ONLY ‘THE WILD ONES’ FERMENT WELL. The harvested grapes are left to the work of wild, indigenous yeasts in the cellar, as well as an alchemical magic known as “spontaneous fermentation.” It is precisely this kind of fermentation that is the biggest test of microbiological diversity, purity, and the natural traits of vineyard.
NOTHING ADDED IN THE CELLAR. A natural cellar is a real tragedy for the chemical industry. In it, interventions are minimal, no chemical additives can be found, and, in most cases, wines are neither filtered nor clarified.
NOT EVEN SULPHITES? If they are added, the amount of sulphites is significantly less than the amount that is present in conventional wines. The amount of sulphites in the wines we represent is generally below 50 mg/L, and usually even twice as low as that. Of course, we also offer a large number of wines in which sulphites are not added at any stage of the winemaking process.

NESPUTANI. THERE IS MORE OF US
Nastja She graduated in philosophy, which is immensely important for the ever-present philosophical debates in our wine shop — especially after a few glasses of wine. It’s also worth mentioning that she’s deeply in love with wine and a highly educated wine expert with rich experience… but the philosophical debates are still the highlight. After all, wine and philosophy have been inseparable since ancient times.
Nikolina A love of nature led her to earn a degree in Agroecology from the Faculty of Agriculture and eventually brought her to Nesputana Vina. She makes sure every bottle in our shop is accounted for — and that you leave with just the right one (or more). Outside the wine shop, you’ll often find her with a camera in hand.
Boris He’s an odd guy who left a corporate career because of wine. Not because he drank too much, but because he fell in love with the world of natural wines long ago — and decided to found Nesputana Vina. The fact that almost no one in Croatia was seriously talking about natural wines at the time didn’t really bother him. These days, he never stops talking about the new wine and food scene, the shift in agricultural and cellar practices, sustainability, the energy and vibrancy of natural wines… A true oddball.

THE ONLY THING NEEDING CHANGE IS ONE’S OWN NATURE
We support sustainable agricultural practices and winemakers who care about biodiversity and health, as well as the vitality of the soil and nature as a whole. Furthermore, we support gastronomic projects and practices that incorporate sustainability as a strategic guideline. Through continuous education of the market and every segment of our business, we want to raise awareness regarding the importance of the attitude towards nature, the necessity of changes in agricultural practices, as well as the importance of the origin and quality of food.
TOP – NAT QUALITY
Not every natural wine is automatically a good wine. We respect intuition and experiments, but above all, we value winemakers who reflect a deep understanding of natural processes and whose work is based on knowledge, experience, and dedication. Knowledge is key to ensuring a high standard of wine quality and adequate education of the market about natural wines. That is why investing in the knowledge of our entire team is nothing less than essential. We oppose bad practices that distort the perception of natural wines and those winemakers that falsely promote their wines as natural. Organic or bio-dynamic practices are necessary, but must be accompanied by spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts and minimal interventions in the cellar.
