The Heinrich winery is located in Gols, Burgenland, next to Lake Neusiedl. Although today they own an impressive 90 hectares of vineyards, this was not always the case. The married couple, Heike and Gernot, started their winery more than 30 years ago with just one hectare of land that Gernot inherited from his parents. It is truly inspiring to witness what can be achieved through dedicated work and a clear vision. Since 2006, they have switched to biodynamic agriculture and hold the Demeter and Respekt-BIODYN certificates. Regardless of the size of their estate, all grapes are hand-picked, and the couple is involved in every part of the production process. Gernot daily spends time in a carefully organized cellar full of wooden barrels and clay containers of various sizes and shapes. The grapes are always fermented on indigenous yeasts and aged for a certain period on their lees. As the winemaking couple says, time is precisely the factor that, above all others, shapes their wines. It is up to them to observe and act minimally, and only when it is absolutely necessary. While this sounds simple in theory, the practice still implies intuition acquired through years of dedicated work, as well as the observation of nature and its processes. They produce several lines of wine, for every occasion and every palate, from light and simple ones through orange wines and elegant specimens of individual vineyard positions.

Pannobile

 

Pannobile is a winegrowing association whose members are fellow winegrowers in the area around the city of Gols, Burgenland. The main subject of discussion and the common belief of all members is dedicated work in the vineyard, differentiation of wine quality by terroir characteristics, and a return to indigenous varieties.

The association was founded by Paul Achs, Matthias Beck, Hans Gsellmann, Gernot Heinrich, Matthias Leitner, Hans Nittnaus, and Helmuth Renner in 1994. Gerhard Pittnauer joined in 1998, and Claus Preisinger in 2004.
