On the slopes of Moslavačka Gora, in Popovača, Ivan Kosovec grows 3 hectares of ecological vineyards in one of the most beautiful locations in Moslavina. With him, everything is simple—manual work and minimal protection, without artificial fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides. His wine story began with his grandfather, whilst Ivan was helping him in the cellar, and his love for this job led him to study oenology in Poreč. During his studies, he decided to buy a little more than 3 hectares of overgrown land, which he turned into a vineyard during the course of two years. He planted the varieties Škrlet, Chardonnay, Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and Pinot Noir. Ivan never shied away from being different, nor did he seek the recognition of others. He found inspiration in Ivan Enjingi, whom he considers a true legend. Thanks to his free spirit, he managed to do what no one had ever done before—he put Moslavina’s Škrlet on the global wine map. His Selekcija (meaning “Selection”), a macerated and aged Škrlet, has become an iconic wine among wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts. The courage and effort paid off, because today Ivan’s name stands for authentic and quality Moslavina wines.
