Winery Križ

KRIŽ

“The tougher the conditions for the Plavac, the better it’ll be.”

Denis and Maja run a small family winery on three hectares of vineyards at unique southern exposure locations near the village of Prizdrina and at the position Postup on the Pelješac peninsula. A rocky soil, the sunlight, and vine-growing hands shape their wines, which are a wonderful blend of tradition and modern knowledge. The winery got its name from the Križ hill, where their largest vineyard is located. Since 2008, they have been engaged in organic farming, and all their wines spontaneously ferment on natural yeasts with minimal intervention in the cellar. They grow exclusively native varieties of the region: Grk and Plavac Mali, and have recently planted Trnjak vines as well.
