Miha Kelhar, a young Slovenian winemaker, continues the 240-year-old winegrowing family tradition in the fertile, hilly area of Bizeljsko. His father, Marijan, was the first to start bottling Keltis wines about thirty years ago, while Miha started organic production during his first vintage in 2009. Today, the winery extends over five hectares of vineyards that are cultivated according to biodynamic principles, and minimal intervention is ensured in the cellar in order to retain the information from the vineyard and the terroir in the wine. They only use a minimal intake of sulphites. For younger wines, they use stainless steel tanks, as well as wooden oak barrels for wines that need to be aged. They have a wide range, reaching from fantastic sparkling wines to the young, refreshing Žan line, and all the way to single-variety, more serious, and complex wines. They are neighbours that are definitely worth exploring!
