The Radikon family pioneered viticulture in Colli, cultivating local grape varieties for more than three decades and staying at the helm of the macerated wine revolution. Their wines, the result of careful and long-lasting contact between grape juice and skin, have attracted global attention and are among the most appreciated wines on the world’s contemporary wine scene. The vineyards were set up by Stanko’s grandfather, while Stanko Radikon was taking the helm in 1976, introducing an innovative approach based on non-invasive production. He has returned to the traditional maceration process without the use of chemicals, additives, clarification, or filtration—using exclusively indigenous yeasts. He has paid special attention to native varieties, such as Ribolla Gialla, convinced that this long-lasting procedure can bring out the best of the Collia terroir. Radikon’s wines soon became synonymous with quality, and Stanko was recognized as one of the key creators of the modern style of macerated wines. After he died in 2016, his son Saša continued the tradition, expanding the capacities of the winery while preserving his father’s unwavering attitude towards top-tier quality. The vineyards are certified organic, and the works in the vineyard are carefully coordinated with the lunar phases, emphasizing the harmony of nature and human work. The festival “Živijo” (meaning “Hello” in Slovenian), organized in honour of Stanko Radikon, has become a significant wine event that brings together winemakers and connoisseurs from Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, promoting not only the tasting of outstanding wines and food, but also strengthening the wine community of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
